Why would you waste precious screen real estate on a news gadget that has only 1 source and doesn’t allow for customization? You wouldn’t. You’d use the Google News Gadget, which pulls in the news from over 4,500 sources. It has 9 default topics: Top Stories, World, US, Business, Sci/Tech, Entertainment, Sports, Health, and Popular. These don’t interest you? Get rid of them, or add any topic you like using Settings.

Need to save some space? You can edit the number of stories to display, cut out the images, and decrease the font-size. Google really knows how to keep their gadgeteers happy.

Don’t need multiple topics? The Customized News gadget lets you enter a single topic, saving you vertical space by eliminating tabs. Changing the topic is done easily through Edit Settings, where you can also choose the number of stories you’d like to see.
