I often encounter this question, so I thought I’d write up a quick post on how to delete a gadget in iGoogle.
There are two ways.
Each gadget has a two icons in the top right corner of the title bar. Clicking the “arrow” icon on the left reveals a dropdown menu with ‘Delete this gadget’ as an option among others, which I will explain at some later date.

The second way to delete a gadget is by editing the Tab to which the gadget belongs. This is sometimes the only way to delete a gadget…gadgets with an apostrophe in their title break the dropdown menu mentioned in the first option. Anyhow, each tab has a similar arrow icon that reveals a dropdown menu when clicked. From there, choose ‘Edit this tab’ which will pull up a page where you can delete the gadgets on that tab.

I tried both ways listed above. After I deleted and refreshed my home page they were there again. I also tried to go into preferences and clicked home page to make the current page without the gadgets I just deleted as my new home page and nothing happened. Please help.
Thank you. Melanie

I have a Mac. There are no icons for either scenario 1 or 2. What do I do?
Also, three gadgets are empty boxes. What do I do get them back to normal?

I went to another computer, opened a clean igoogle page, opened the edit gadget tab, then e-mailed the hyperlink to myself. Back to my computer, opened the e-mail and clicked the link - was finally able to open the edit page and delete the Chuck Norris gadget.

I recommend Google create a one stop delete ALL gadgets on IGoogle. For instance just place the selection in menu, “Delete all gadget from your IGoogle page” with the standard click option, then a red X could appear to close off all gadgets at once permanently. I also do not like the “share with friends” selection that come with automatic checks to all this gadget—-
Before you begin to think I do not appreciate you let me sat having the option of creating my own homepage to open my favorites is a fantastic idea. Thank you!

Is is simple just delete your site or what ever and start over. Removing a gadget seems to be a major under taking. The answers are confusing. Thats what I did and I will never use another gadget again from google. Have you ever noticed how confusing the answers are from google its a pain in the ass.

Sad. Google programmers have sunk to the level of Microsoft programmers. I had hoped the reverse would have happened. Not to be.

How can I delete a the tv guide gadget on iGoogle when I can’t do anything on the page because of the continual stack overflow message. I’ve unchecked debugging, restarted my computer, and still I get the message and am not able to do anything on this page.
January 1st, 2011 at 11:59 am
I turned off my computer and restarted on a general search page and found an easy way to permanently delete gadgets - and it worked. I needed to delete the tv guide gadget at others said was causing the constant stack overflow message. Just sign into your google.com account, click upper right of page, “settings” then “google account settings.” Beside “iGoogle” click “settings,” and delete what you don’t want - then SAVE

I deleted igoogle to get rid of my gadgets, then returned and re-established igoogle to start over–now I can’t even get rid of gmail, cnn, and youtube which Google is forcing on me…I quit!
January 8th, 2011 at 4:18 pm
Long time I try to remove gadgets created just as a test, but could not. The solution I found to not leave links to add the link was lost in the igoogle gadget editor and add new content. It worked well, but there are two others I can not do the same procedure, changes the directory to save the moment.
April 5th, 2011 at 7:53 pm
There is also another way to remove the gadgets from your homepage. You click on the “options” button in the upper right corner (it will show a picture of a little gear thing) then click on “iGoogle settings” and scroll down a bit until you see a list of all of your gadgets. Right beside each of them, there is a button that says “delete”. Click on it, and a window will pop up, asking you “Are you sure you want to delete this gadget?” Click yes, then scroll all the way down and click “Save Changes” in the bottom right corner. If that doesn’t work, go to Google Chrome (if you have it) and your iGoogle will function normally. Fix all the problems needed, and then return to your old internet browser. (example: Firefox, Internet Explorer, ect…) Your page should be as you left it on Google Chrome.
If that doesn’t work, I don’t know what your problem is haha

I had the same problem, though. It was annoying…

To; GOOGLE
I had a customized home page. This morning I had to turn off the computer quickly instead of shutting it down properly. When I rebouted my Google home page was gone and another one instead.
I would like to retreave my home page or if not I would like a Google blank home page so that I may customize, or a way to delete all the gadgets at on time that are on this page that I have now and redo.
Thanks, Bud

Unable to delete a gadget from your iGoogle page?
If a gadget has malfunctioned and you’re having trouble deleting it on your iGoogle page, you can delete gadgets from the iGoogle Settings page by following these steps:
1.Go to http://www.google.com/ig/settings.
2.In the ‘Content’ section, select the tab that contains the gadget you want to delete.
3.Next to the gadget’s name, click Delete.
4.Click OK to confirm.

I Uninstalled and reinstalled Google Chrome but the gadgets came back.(maybe someone else who uses this computer brought them back).
1. So I set my home page to Classic (didn’t want iGoogle)
2. Copied the address from the dialog box at the top of the screen
3 Selected the wrench in the upper right hand corner of the screen
4. Selected options, then basics
5. Next to On Startup selected Open the following page and pasted the address I had copied (for Google Classic)
6. next to Home Page selected Open this page and pasted again the address for Google Classic
7. Restarted the computer and the problem was solved
Maybe all of these steps weren’t necessary.
